A: Absence of descendens hypoglossi. A branch of C1 joins the hypoglossal nerve. Branches of C2, C3 join anomalous descendens vagi.
B. Absence of descendens hypoglossi. A branch from C1 joins the hypoglossal nerve. A branch from C2 joines the vagus. C3 provides the major part of descendens cervicalis along with a branch from the vagus, descendens vagi, to form ansi vagi.
C: The branch to m. thyrohyoideus departs from the ansa hypoglossi rather than being carried by and leaving from the hypoglossal nerve.
D: Absence of descendens hypoglossi. Branches from C2 and C3 join the vagus, which then provides the branches to infrahyoid muscles.
