This section illustrates fibrous digital sheaths (22, 25) containing the tendons of flexor digitorum superficialis and profundus and insertions of a palmer interosseous muscle into the dorsal extensor expansion.

In the section through the thumb, the tendon of flexor pollicis longus (2) can be identified. The tendons of extensor digitorum communis (8, 12, 16) are seen on or near the dorsal surface of the hand.

Common (28) and proper (27) digital and dorsal metacarpal (11, 14) arteries are identified.
