Abductor pollicis longus arises from the upper and middle third of the ulna (21), the interosseous membrane (18), and the radius (12) and inserts onto the first metacarpal. It is innervated by the deep branch of the radial nerve (16).
Flexor pollicis longus muscle (14) is also seen for the first time. It arises from the anterior surface of the middle third of the radius and inserts onto the distal phalanx of the thumb. It is innervated by the median nerve, anterior interosseous branch.
