Crests of the Ilia
According to Eycleshymer and Schoemaker, variation in the level of the crests of the ilia range from the middle third of the fourth lumbar vertebra to the fourth lumbar disk. The average position is at the level of the lower third of the fourth lumbar vertebra. Morris reported the crests of the ilia to be at the level of the fourth lumbar vertebra, and Cunningham, at the level of the fourth lumbar vertebra and its spinous process. The present study places it at the lower third of the fourth lumbar vertebra.
